Jambo - I'm Bernd

I'm originally from Germany and first fell for the "black continent" more than twenty years ago on trips through South Africa, Namibia, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Zanzibar and Kenya. On Diani Beach I finally found the place that combines the extraordinary quality of life of the African coast with the comforts that make it possible to live and host here long-term.

Our connection to Diani

Villa Madagascar sits in Coconut Grove I, a small, quiet villa resort about 2.8 km beyond the Baobab hotel and roughly 250 metres from the Neptune. The beach itself is a five-minute walk away. Over the years we've built and looked after a number of villas here, and many of our first guests have become good friends and neighbours.

The villa itself

Around 300 sqm of living space, six bedrooms across the main house and guest cottage, five bathrooms, and a large private pool wrapped in a tropical garden of bougainvillea, coconut palms and fruit trees. Everything has been designed by pairing artistic African style with European luxury.

Our hosting philosophy

It's not a hotel - it's a family home, opened up for you. A small local team looks after the villa: a private chef who cooks whatever you fancy, a house lady, and a gardener and pool attendant. Superhost on Airbnb since 2014 with a 4.86 rating across 78 reviews, and always happy to help arrange safaris, diving, kitesurfing or a quiet dinner on the terrace.
